Dr. Camille Taylor
The late Dr. Camille Taylor, was the founder of the Black Music Caucus of New York. He founded the Gospel Choir Competitions of New York and was the former Music Educator Nationals Conference (MENC) chairperson. Since 1977 Dr. Taylor provided school gospel choirs an opportunity to express themselves musically through gospel music. He also provided music scholarships and opportunities for those who wanted to pursue a career in music. Dr. Taylor loved his work so much that for the last several years of his life he continued doing his work while under very serious health risk due to his failing heart condition. Dr. Taylor passed away on July 12th, 2009 and is dearly missed.

Phillip Henderson

Phillip accepted the opportunity to revive the Black Music Caucus of New York, renaming it The Black Gospel Music Caucus of New York in honor of Dr. Taylor to bring together and celebrate Gospel music in a new exciting way. Phillip is an entrepreneur and has been involved with music for over 25 years working with various artists. He served as the director of the Association of the Ebonites Gospel Choir at Winthrop University where he received training in vocal and music performance. During his time at Winthrop, he won "Director of the Year" at the Black Music Caucus of New York. He looks forward to keeping Dr. Taylor's legacy alive by giving music scholarships to students, providing opportunities to music entrepreneurs, and bringing together colleges and universities in exciting competitions for many years to come.
